Why is there a Need for Simulation?

The BBS Access mixed mode simulation tool, DECSim, is based on a full blown random Monte-Carlo method and is therefore capable of simulating almost any aspect related to the functionality of the DECLoop network in real time. It has been specifically designed to fully replicate the behavior of all the subsystem components as well as the entire network. It is capable of simulating the behavior of several thousand subscriber units and up to 100 base stations simultaneously. This is more than sufficient for any scenario that is applicable to Thailand’s rural areas.

It can perform both traffic and RF analysis simultaneously as compared to many other simulation tools that only perform one or the other. This has a distinct advantage for rural WLL where the air interface is relatively important. It is capable of simulating millions of calls per second, and recording all of the system’s behavior.

The DECSim tool simulates every call, call duration, frequency, channel, timeslot, and every RF signal level in the entire network simultaneously. This means that any parameter anywhere in the system can be measured, stored, analyzed, and displayed. Thus complete performance and behavior can be studied for any single piece of equipment, any sub section of the network, or the entire network as a whole.

The simulation tool also has a powerful graphical interface that allows the display of all aspects of a networks performance based on geographical location. Several examples of network simulation are given below.
