Wireless system required two kinds of simulation - system traffic simulation and air interface/RF simulation.
Traffic simulation is important to achieve the required grade of subscriber service over all traffic conditions. It is very useful for rural areas which have very diverse subscriber topologies. Thus efficient equipment planning requires that several network scenarios be studied in advance. In a rural area this can only be accomplished through the use of simulations. Simulation is also important because these areas will often have diverse subscriber demands from home, business, government, rural, and small city subscribers.
Air interface and RF simulation are also of importance when using WLL access networks in rural areas. This is because of the relatively low RF power and long distances involved. When all aspects are considered, the conclusion is that good network simulation is especially important for fixed wireless access networks in rural areas.
