EMS (Element Management System)
The EMS (Element Management System) is a GUI module that allows
management of one of more DIUs in the DECLoopWLL system. It provides an
enhancement over the OMC system in that easy monitoring of the DIUs is
achieved via a simple, intuitive GUI and efficient fault management
platform. Connection between the EMS and DIU is completed via LAN,
dial-up and VNMS (Virtual Network System).
The EMS provides the following functionalities:
- Management of multiple DIUs from one central remote location
- Provision of multi-user facilities with different profiles
- Execution of multiple commands and simultaneous displaying of all
outputs from these commands via an easily scrollable platform
- Centralized and remote software upgrading (e.g., DIU and
sub-systems software, announcements, OMC software and backup
utilities, database upgrades etc)
- Usage of alternative DCN (Data Connection Networks) options (LAN,
dial-up and VNMS)
- Robust security and audit with EMS security key
- Centralized automated backup (Billing, Exchange and log databases,
EMS configurations)
- Enhanced fault management with alarm filtering (i.e., Major,
Minor, Critical and Warning)
- Various types of alarm actions (e.g., E-mail, printing, beeping)
- Traffic analysis and measurements
